I just found out that I lost a dear auntie . She was my moms sister and the last survivor of a family of 8 girls and two boys.
She had a heart of gold and was a very fun personality. I stayed at her house a lot when I was a child and my mom and her were close and looked a lot alike.
It’s a rather strange feeling the last of this era but I’ll have the memories and I smile at them. Her name was Corrine and always went by the nickname Corky. It seemed to fit her outspoken and fun loving personality. When I’d see her she would say with a twinkle in her eye, “ I’m your favorite auntie right?” I had many aunties but of course say yes and I’d tell her , “I’m your favorite niece right?”
The last time I saw her was this summer in Michigan. She was in a nursing home because of a stroke but she seemed to be doing fairly well. She always made me feel loved.
Other than the sad news the day was nice with sunshine and we went to Kentucky to visit our daughter and our grandson. It was pretty by the river.
There’s even some signs of Spring! Soon starts a fresh new season

So sorry to hear about your aunt, Cheryl - she sounds like a wonderful, one-of-a-kind lady. Happy, though, that you were able to see your daughter and Oliver!
ReplyDeleteBlessings!
I'm so very sorry!! I think a lot of us have a favorite aunt or uncle that are so much fun. And she looks like she would have enjoyed lots of fun and adventures. How wonderful that you have such great memories. I hope they only bring you joy, and the pain goes away soon.
ReplyDeleteOh, I am so sorry to hear of the passing of your dear Aunt "Corky". I love that name and I can imagine her personality just by the name! I know you will miss her, but isn't it great to know we will all be reunited someday in heaven, where we'll never have to say "good bye" again? My heart goes out to you as you see that generation closing...I do understand that. It was hard for me and my siblings to realize that we are now the older generation...that's always a shock! Glad you were able to spend some time with your youngest generation...that always helps!! And yes, spring is coming, with new life and much joy. Sending you (((hugs))).
ReplyDeleteCheryl, I am sad for you and sorry for your loss. It is hard when the last of the older generation are all gone. I'm glad you have so many beautiful memories and thank you for sharing the photos. Oliver is such a cutie!! I'm looking forward to seeing you next month!!
