It’s the time of the year where I look back in time and remember the old days. Today I am remembering my art teacher in high school Mr Carl Mayer. I’ve always loved drawing and painting so this was my favorite class. Mr Mayer was a good teacher, he encouraged and praised us on our accomplishments yet he was also kind enough to give us constructive criticism. He taught us to strive for excellence. He taught water color classes long after he retired and he painted beautiful scenery of the upper peninsula of Michigan and the magnificent Lake Superior. If I hadn’t moved away I would have taken some painting classes as an adult too.
Mr Mayers passed away on Christmas Eve at home in hospice care. I was able to connect with him on Facebook so I did get to interact with him there. Now his wife has his page and I’m getting to know her. I pray comfort for her and their children and grandchildren. I’m thankful for the memories and that he helped inspire me to love art and painting.
