Home and Travel

I have never traveled outside of the united states except for Canada when I was very young. We went on a family trip with my aunt, uncle and cousin. It was nice but it looked about the same as home where we were. That was OK because home was beautiful anyway. We were along Lake Superior camping. This is a silly memory but we had to give up our oranges at the border, probably some fruit fly they tried to avoid. Back then we did not need a passport to enter Canada. Different times for sure. Have you traveled to different countries? Where did you go and did you love it? I see places on TV that look so beautiful. Italy is one I would love to see. Finland would be fun because my great grandparents came from Finland on my dad's side. From shows I have watched on TV and YouTube it seems as if Finland has some simalarities to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan where I grew up, beautiful lakes and trees and deep snowy winters. There are so many Finnish people where I grew up. My grandparents church service was in Finnish. I went with them when I spent times overnight at their house. It was the Finnish Luthern Church. There was also a TV Show called Finland Calling. It was fun. They had music and all kinds of things related to Finland. My dad always wanted to visit Finland but he never did. That is sad. Perhaps the Lord will show him from Heavens view. Traveling is such a fun and interesting subject but I do not have a long time to blog this morning so perhaps I will pick up where I left off and continue on. Some pictures I have seen from Finland remind me so much of hiking in Michigan's beautiful upper peninsula I would love to hear of some of your travels and places you grew up. Here are some photos of the place I grew up.

  1. Hi I am sorry if you visited while I was working on this because I had to revert to draft and start over some of my pictures and link wouldn’t work. I am trying to learn what I am doing . There is still a link of hiking places in Finland that remind me so much of hiking up Sugar Loaf in Marquette Mi. I may try and post on a separate blog sometime. I am amazed at all the beauty there is to see in so many places

    1. I miss it but they are buried in snow yet. I grew up in it though and it is beautiful year round. I miss that farm too. I took the photos the last winter my parent's lived there, I came up to help out because dad was having some problems medically and not well. Both are home with Jesus now. I can only imagine how lovely Heaven must e but I miss them so much
